Mural finished. Etsy storefront in progess!

I finally finished the mural in Nate's room. The top part is a series of typographic trains that wrap around the room. My husband (aka, my IT dept manager and CFO) can now add custom vinyl installer to his resume. Under my exacting eye, he painstakingly lined up all the railroad tracks parallel to the moulding. The train cars are mostly abstract but I thought I'd throw a few key words in there just to mix things up. The back wall has a painted roadway with typographic cars, trees, and traffic lights. I'd like to thank Jason Wright, Desiree Portuguese, Jared Schneider, and Shawndra Cox for contributing modes of transport to the mural.

The mural is just the beginning of my typographic plan to take over the world, ok, babies' nurseries and children's rooms. Over the next few months, I'll be developing typographic vinyl decal kits available for purchase on Etsy.com. I've already started a few for the animal series (see left) and i've got the basics ready for the transportation series.

Don't you wish you could spend your vacation one-handed?

Like the president, I'll be heading to Asheville, NC, for vacation. Unlike the president, a week prior to my trip, I'm scheduled for wrist surgery (on my right hand, yikes!). I'm an old pro at this surgery as I already had it on my left hand--it's called DeQuervain's Release in case you're interested.

The recovery requires two weeks in a cast so I'll be spending my vacation delicately balancing a baby with my left arm. Fun. Anyhow, KV Design will be on a limited work schedule May 17-21, and completely closed the following week, May 23-29. If you receive a very poorly typed email from me, just remember that I only have one hand, and not even the good one.
