The MSG gives it zesty flavor!
- 12 large cabbage leaves
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef
- ¼ tsp MSG
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 cup finely minced cabbage
- ½ cup soft breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup grated onion
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup molasses
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 3 tbsp water
Heat oven to 350º. Pour boiling water over cabbage leaves and let stand 5 minutes to soften. In bowl, combine ground beef, minced cabbage, onion, salt, pepper, MSG, breadcrumbs, ¼ cup water and eggs. Mix well and divide into 12 equal cylinder shaped rolls. Arrange each roll in center of a scaled cabbage leaf. Roll over two sides of leaves and roll. Place rolls, folded side down, in baking dish. Blend butter, honey, molasses, and 3 tbsp water. Pour over rolls and bake about 45 minutes until browned. Turn rolls after 25 minutes to brown evenly.
